Welcome my friends to the land of melotronic sounds. Suggestion 1: If you have not listened to Valve’s new release A Perfect Day for Stars find whatever means possible to get to your local music shop and snatch a copy. If you like to touch before you taste, head over to valverocks.com and download the new clips on the audio page. Read on for a nice little review.
From the opening whine of Casey (Vocals/Guitar) on Waited by the Station it became apparent Valve is on their way to a successful career with the release of A Perfect Day for Stars. I was a bit disappointed to the lack of Moogie showing off his Opus 3 skills in the introduction but fear not fellow Moog lovers we will arrive their soon. The driving guitars and the melodies produced by Valve are amazing, I cannot stress this point enough. Following the opener, Right Where you Started produces a feeling that every person that listens can relate to. With lyrics like "I know you thought I was so strong" and "I wish I’d never seen it all", one cannot help but sympathize. Valve continues to keep the attention of their listeners with Drained. My question to this song is, how can one possibly go wrong with a song that features a Moog and a Piano. Throughout the rest of the disc you are taken through happy and sad times, on this roller coaster of life we call Valve.
Appropriately titled, Part of the Catch Phrase brings you into track seven by taking you through an experience we all find ourselves troubled with. The in your face keyboards (Moogie) and guitars (Casey/Moogie) make you want to bounce your head and sing "watermelon" until you figure out what Casey is saying. However, when you do, you’ll find yourself "Sitting so pretty as a part of the catch phrase."
Throughout A Perfect Day for Stars, you will find yourself laughing/crying/jumping/sulking/and anything in between. It is hard to relate Valve to any genre, but I think "Know Valve, Know Rock. No Valve, No Rock" says it best.

this cd is DEFINITELY worth getting.....From the poppy song "Drained" to "Right Where You Started"
.....awesome. They will be playing in Denton at Dan's Bar on March 30th - and are great Live.....If you like Valve, you should also check out a new band called START (www.starttheband.com) they have ex members from Slow Roosevelt and Atom 12 and are REALLY good.
I listened to the song 'drained'. At the risk of this hitting me later, and wishing I hadn't said it: Good, original sound that Valve has there! Definately worth picking up the CD, and seeing what else they have to offer. Couldn't really peg any influences. If anyone happens to know, I'm curious....
