Happy Ears

To those of you that didn't know, I spent some time banging skins for The Shut Up Shop. Though we did not play a phenomenal amount of shows, we were blessed to play with some great bands. Sitting here at work, Do The Leg by Eaton Lake Tonics cycled onto the trusty ipod. The more I hear this music, the more I enjoy it. It's catchy and has some great hooks. It's hard to describe what genre it would fit in, but I'd file it under indie/pop.

I digress. One of the bands that we were fortunate to play with was ELT. They were a blast to hear live. If you get a chance, catch up and lend an ear to these fine fellows. I insist you'll have an enjoyable experience.

p.s. This was filed under blog as it's not really a review. In case you were wondering

Hooray for DFW area musicians!

Sherri and I have recently been watching the "flip-this" shows about house-flipping. A group of the more successful "flippers" have managed to land their own show on The Learning Channel called "The Real Deal". Aside from it the concept of flipping being so damn cool, and the amazing work they are doing with those houses, Sherri and I have noticed that the soundtrack to the show features none other than DFW's own The Deathray Davies and Valve! I absolutely LOVE both of those bands, and am happy to hear they are having success even after calling it quits (going on a hiatus in DRDs case).

Edit: Add our friends DARYL to the list. Some producer or directory has got to be from around the DFW area.

Festival: Edge Fall Bowling Ball

What do a sold out show, a drunken alien, and good friends have in common? A damn good time! I admit, I initially didn't want to go to this show, purely because it was going to cost $45 a ticket. Luckily I have a great friend who happened to have 2 extra tickets, that Sherri and I happily procured.

I won't go into too much detail about each band, but I will summarize the events of the night, and hilight the wonderful memories that will stick in my head for years to come.

What: Edge Fall Bowling Ball
When: Sept. 19th, 2001
Where: Bronco Bowl Entertainment

The afternoon began around 4:15 PM with local punkers Bowling for Soup playing their "First ever show on a bowling lane". I have been a big fan of these guys since I heard them play a festival back in my home town with the likes of The Hunger/Kicking Harold/ and Podunk. Oddly enough, BFS's song "Thespian" was written about an incident with a friend of mine's girlfriend at that show. Anyhow, the played a 45 minute set and passed the stage onto another local talent "Jibe" (If you haven't heard them, you should).

Farewell dear Moogie.

Well, it has begun. Alienated.org and tonality.com have gotten things rolling with our first official promotion. We had an interview with the guys from Valve last night that proved to be a milestone. We are proud to announce official support for Casey, Josh, Lance, and Tony (both old and new) of Valve. We would like to welcome Valve to alienated.org as official members of our service. We will be announcing shows providing news and tour updates for the guys as they embark on a wonderful journey of music. Please read on for more information.

We will soon be adding a calendar service for our supported bands to send us tourdates and show times, etc. Valve will be sending us updates on what they are up to, and future plans of the band. Hopefully soon, we will be adding alot more bands to the roster so watch for more updates like this one.

Valve: A Perfect Day for Stars

Welcome my friends to the land of melotronic sounds. Suggestion 1: If you have not listened to Valve’s new release A Perfect Day for Stars find whatever means possible to get to your local music shop and snatch a copy. If you like to touch before you taste, head over to valverocks.com and download the new clips on the audio page. Read on for a nice little review.
