Life Sux Then You Learn

Been A long time since I have seen anyone from the old
netcom crew ,
I have been working a few different places since my layoff ,
but finally did land somewhere were I felt that I fit in and My skills limited as they are would make a difference .
That place is a Famous rent-to-own company with a famous football personallity as there spokesman .
So there I am secure in my world that I am the only person in the I.T. dept that the supervisor could give a desktop user problem to who could fix it with a minimum of fuss or handholding ,Boy did I have a suprise coming

You see I should have done a lil research on this company before I started working for them it seems that they have a 75% turnover rate of employee's every year and have been sued by the e.e.o.c and several interests groups for everything from discriminating hiring practices to false financial earnings reportings .

Now my skills are mediocre I'd say some think Im a genius usually end users without a clue, and I do have my niche some things I excel at and some things I just need to learn
a lil better .

The good news was I was able to keep My job thru the 9/11 deal and even up to sept 9 of this year ,
The bad news is I have a cold and decided to write an email to my supervisor on Thusday preceding sept 9th stating this and that I wished to go home ,
It was ignored until 4:30p.m. and then I was told if I was Ill I could go home to go to a doctor ,Kinda hard to make an appointment to see a doctor at 4:30 .

I was scheduled for friday saturday and sunday off monday I felt really bad still Colds suck , So I called mister supervisor at 6a.m. way more than an hour before My shift starts told mister supervisor I was still feeling ill and could I use a vacation day since the company doesnt have any sick days .
Mister supervisor says sure no problem and even goes so far as to put in and approve the vacation day request for me .

So I stay home just me and my Nyquil comforted by the fact that I have such an understanding boss.

Well I come in on Tuesday the 10th and start my usuall routine pulling the home office user issues from our approach database getting them organised and checking the vpn conections I am responsible for monitoring and 2 hours into my day and half a bottle of Dayquil later Im called into a meeting with Mister Supervisor and the director Of I.T.

Needless to say this didnt bode well I was told that after 13months of employment it was felt that I just wasnt a proper fit with the Company and That I didnt seem to show the same values as the other employee's in the I.T. dept and that I was being let go ,
Ok no bigee Ive only invested a year of my time in the company drove 30 miles to and from work everyday
supported 200+ home office users desktops and maintained 500 vpn connections and now Im in the ranks of the Unemployed again .

been looking the past few days am a bit depressed but I do have one bright thing In my life besides my wife child and pets jobs in our field are slim and Im probably gonna have to drive a cab or deal drugs or something just to make ends meet had to lower my bandwidth on my dsl to cut back on expenses ,
I got a call from one of my coworkers who feels I was robbed
she said they are telling the home office employees I was let go because of too many absences understandable I suppose 5 months ago I was written up for attendance because I Took 4 days Out sick and hadnt oprovided a doctors note
not much a doctor can do for a cold {see why I say cold suck}

my ex coworker informs me that all hell has broken loose
the home office issue list has tripled since I have been gone 2 days and the supervisor cant seem to keep up with all of it .

nice to know Im needed but a lil late .

The moral of the storie is Always get a doctors note and never trust a supervisor even if you think there your best friend because they are only so long as there boss likes you as well .

p.s. alien I even got wrote up for looking at this website while I was supposed to be working heh Picky Bastages
