Weekend reflections and continued work

Spent a nice couple of days at the in-laws this weekend and Liam came away with so many toys they could barely fit in my Jetta. Which is actually saying a lot since it's known for it's "junk in the trunk" aspect!

Got to watch the the Stars win and Cowboys get spanked. Good thing I don't "get into" sports as much as I used to, or the Cowboys game would have completely ruined my day! Oh well, they get paid for it, I don't.

Being out at the in-laws house on the lake reminded me that I ultimately want to get out of the "burbs" and away from it all. My job would definitely allow for that to happen, as I work from home, but Sherri is a bit different. She makes her daily commute to her corporate job and we just haven't figured out how to let her do something else just yet. Someday...

I've been, slowly but surely, regenerating my photography portfolio to put it up on my new zenfolio site (http://conceptofproof.zenfolio.com) and hopefully business will pick back up once that is finished. With some hard work and a little luck, it will be completed by the new year.

Made a decision on a photo host. Yay!

After doing quite a bit of research and participating in quite a few "14 day trials", I have finally come to a decision on which photo host I will be using to replace my current site. While I really liked smugmug, it seemed like quite a bit of extra work and lots of CSS customizing to pare down my site into the "minimalist" feel I so enjoy.

That said, I decided to go with zenfolio. This will allow me to keep the minimalist feel of the site, but still provide order fulfillment directly through zenfolio. This is something I've been looking at combining for quite a while now. Previously, I used a combination of custom PHP/Flash code on my website, and then linked to provide fulfillment through ImageKind.

So, I will be moving all of my galleries and setting prices on the new site. The old site "currently" can be found at http://conceptofproof.com and the new site can be found at http://conceptofproof.zenfolio.com. When I get everything moved over, to the new zenfolio site, I will cut the domain over and http://conceptofproof.com will become the primary site again.

pulsate - Death Valley National Park

I really love the textures and contrasts in this shot. I took it during the final morning of my 2008 Death Valley National Park photo trip with my friends Jason Heiman and Mike Irwin.

We spent 5 nights and 4 morning trying to find the "perfect" light to shoot these beautiful sand dunes with. We weren't blessed with this phenomenal light until the final morning. We got up at about 4:30AM to be out there and subsequently made the 3 hour drive back to Las Vegas to catch our flight home.

Overall, it was another fantastic and successful trip.
